(Cord Magazine's questions are in blue. Artist responses are in grey.)
What do you do in your down time (as in spare time)?
Chris Edwards (Bass) : Uh, what spare time? (Laughs)
Uh, no, we had a bit of spare time this afternoon and just sort-of played guitar and talked with The Music. Stuff like that. Playing guitars, talking about music. Went across the road to the music shop there, it’s quite good. I dunno, when we’re traveling and stuff it’s more like reading a book, on your laptop, doing tunes and stuff on your laptop. Computer games, do you know what I mean? Just anything that kills time! We just drove from St. Louis to Seattle and that took us three days.
Oh my god!
Yeah, literally just drove the whole of America!
Well, at least you have bunks and you’re not in an economy class flight.
Exactly.
What is your favorite venue and city to play in?
Um, my favorite city was probably Chicago. That’s awesome I love Chicago. I dunno, its kind-of got all the balls of New York, but none of the snotty-ness of New York, do you know what I mean? Cause New York is kind-of like, everyone’s out there for themselves. It’s a little like London.
New York’s artsy.
New York artsy? It’s ruined all my favorite films as well! Cause you see all the films then you see the real place and you’re like “Awe, it looks shit!” (Laughs) You know what I mean? And in the films it looks amazing. My favorite venue? This one looks like it’s going to be a great night.
Do you know about the bouncy floor?

No, has it got a sprung floor? For ballroom dancing? I think that’s what it's there for. I think that’s why they have it isn’t it? We played a place in Glasgow and it had one and you see the people and you think it’s going to cave in and snap!
I haven’t seen that here.
Yeah, well, might see it tonight.
What was your favorite Saturday morning cartoon when you were growing up?
Cartoon? Uh, I dunno. I used to like The Simpsons but that was a bit later. Probably 1990 that came out so I was like ten years old. So, I suppose Simpsons now, I mean, I still like it now - it’s amazing. I dunno, I like Tom and Jerry. I like the old cartoons, the proper cartoons. I love that.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I’m still growing up and I still don’t know! I mean, well, I obviously wanted to do this. Um, I always knew it was going to be something to do with music anyway cause as soon as I was done school I went to college to do like, sound engineering courses and stuff. I always knew I was going to be something to do with sound. Then we formed this band back in ’98 after we left school, you know?
How exactly did you meet again?
At school.
At primary school?
No, kind-of high school. I’ve known Serge and Tom for thirteen years, but Tom and Chris have known each other since they were five because they literally lived across the road from each other. And then we all lived within about half a mile of each other – same village.
What is one thing that scares you more than anything else in the world?
Dunno, not doing this anymore, that’d be pretty scary! Know what I mean? (Laughs). I’ve been doing this band like, full-on for nearly three years and if I had to go back to the job I was doing…it doesn’t really scare me, it’s just like, I don’t want to do it. That’s pretty scary.
What is your vice of choice?
Vice? Beer, Women…that’s about it. I don’t do any drugs. I’m the cleanest one out of the band for that. Well, unless you count beer for a fucking drug, which it probably is! It’s probably one the worst drugs as well.
If you could trade places with anyone else in the world, who would it be?
No one.

That’s good!
(Laughs) Yeah, you know what I mean? I’m enjoying myself, why would I want to be anyone else? I’m doing what I want to do. I don’t want to live anyone else’s life, I want to live mine.
Thank god for that! Bear Vs. Shark?
I dunno, I’d say the bear. Definitely the bear. I dunno, I shark in a shallow pool of water hasn’t got a lot of movability. It’s just gonna be flapping there with its big teeth. So, if the bear got it from behind and punched it, know what I mean?
If you could ask me a question what would it be?
Uh, who is this for (Laughs) who’s this for?
