Well now these days I hear oodles about Copeland, but when I got this disc I hadn't heard a thing. I was attracted by the bright photograph on the cover, and didn't even bother to check the track listing before dropping the disc into my CD player and taking it for a spin. The first thing I thought was how interesting a choice it was to open a CD, especially a short EP, with a cover of "Another Day In Paradise." I thought it was, despite the original being a powerful and touching song, still a pretty ballsy, bold move to cover Phil Collins tunes right out of the gate. And then I realized that the whole thing is cover songs. An interesting selection of them, and executed in such a way so as to make them seem like they really belong together and like Copeland might have in fact written them all. Anyhow, the treatment on "Another Day..." has its weird moments. There's some chorus background vocals that are a little corny, and there's an awkward clean break near the end that chucks you right into a bridge. It's neat though what they do with that signature melody from the tune - I almost want to hear this a bit darker. "She's Always A Woman...." Are you kidding me? This is so cool. It's such a cute song anyhow, but what contemporary artists would normally cover something like this? This tune is so pretty, the light piano and just a touch of strings. It suddenly gets completely orchestral. And then they turn around into "Take My Breath Away!" Jessica Simpson, eat your smarmy little heart out. You know all this stuff is kinda of like sapped-out movie score redos of old hits. Like someone liscenced these songs for a feel-good Americana movie where everyone lives in a small town with small problems, and they all ride bikes and someone falls in love.......

Song of choice : How can I possibly deny "Take My Breath Away?" I've always loved that song! Whee!
