Sabrosa Purr, after getting past the delicious band name, is drifty and pretty, slow and syrupy, sexy and mellow. There's an echo rife in here, and certainly any disc that starts off with a French chick talking seductively is guaranteed to be saucy. There's a familiar dangerous sound that I can't quite place. Love & Rockets perhaps? These snarling droning guitars... and a good solid yell in "...By The Water"... weird and sharp. "The Lovely People" kicks in to sound more like a pop radio rock song... like something between Smashmouth and Velvet Revolver. I don't think I like this track. Conversely, "All The Leaves" is exceedingly gentle. Now we're cycling back to the same sound of "Sabrosa Purr Pt. 1" and "...By The Water." There's an interesting flow on this disc. I think I like it more than not, but it's hard to figure out what sort of band they want to be. These drifty tunes are beautiful though. Weaved through with lilting sounds, soaring vocals yet cutting lyrics. The screams are neat and unexpected... kinda hairmetal yells... stinging, gravelly, yet high pitched. And appropriately, "Liars, Petty Thieves and Pets" is pretty much a Bon Jovi song.
Song of choice :
I vote for "All The Leaves..."
