Cute and innocent. Lovely piano. The first verse lines (in "Try A Little Longer" - isn't that the Big Red jingle?) I don't like so much, but as the song carries on, the epicness of it sinks in... there's a lot going on here. Kara Keith has an unspectacualrly real voice. Kind of low in fact. I adore the la-la-la-la-la-la's in the background. She gets a bit raspy amid the droning synths in "Calm Down." It's a charming record, absolutely something the meek girl sitting in the back of the class would write in her bedroom alone at night after raiding her parents' liquor cabinet. Fabulous oldschool synths to start up "gay man pants" - exceptionally groovy. It's a bit of a less-chiming Blondie or something. Maybe not - there's a voice I can't totally place that this sounds a bit like - Suzanna Vega? It has that same sort of slightly-bored quality to it. And come on, kleenex ghost? Way to bring childhood on back. Lovely piano...
Song of choice :
Definitely digging "Gay Man Pants".
