Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Damage.

Release Date : October 5, 2004.
Label: Sanctuary.
Rating: Andy doesn't dig rating stuff.

Awwooo! That more or less sums up Damage. This band of course has always been around kicking music fans in the face time and time again with their massive and deadly wall of fuzzy, echoey, oldschool space rock. And did they ever deliver this time. Never known for being particularly wordy or straying too far from what he does best, Jon Spencer and his Blue Explosion ruffle, stomp and carry on from front to back on this album. Droning, heavy fucking guitars that almost don't sound like guitars a lot of the time. Accomplished drumming. I mean, so accomplished it almost doesn't register. A vocal quality that sounds pretty vintage greaser coolcat. Mmmmeant for hot rods and shiny boots. Sexy and purring. Come along kittens! Like Spencer's soliloquys about playing rock n' roll for you ladies and gentlemen - repeated in droves. But hey, this is about making you move more than anything else...

Song of choice : Really dig "You Been My Baby." It's almost ballady. And the initial pump at "Damage" just clearly rocks.
