Magnet
The Tourniquet.

Release Date : February 14, 2006.
Label: Filter.
Rating: Andy doesn't dig rating stuff.

Banjos and strings and synths? Flowing sweet vocals and a general ambience of an uplifting teen-drama theme song without being boring and cookie cutter? Magnet impresses two minutes in. The outro to the opening track, "Hold On," sounds like a chorus at a Christmas pageant. Very comforting. It's sweet like a folk album but the music is a bit wilder. Interesting combo. The music makes the vocals seem a bit dull perhaps, even though on their own they'd be quite fine. Okay, I fold, it's pretty. Molasses-like, very syrupy. It's like a slow drowning. I really like the drone in the latter stages of "The Pacemaker."

Song of choice : Hmmm I pick "Fall At Your Feet" - great flow, and no, it has nothing to do with Jesse Cook.
