The Summerlad
Themes:International.

Release Date : March 5, 2005.
Label: Saved By Radio.
Rating: Andy doesn't dig rating stuff.

Right from the get-go I love this. I thought I knew these guys a bit but I was wrong. It shakes in sounding somewhat emo, but then collapses beautifully into Dandy-Warhol-esque harmonies. Soft, flowing, layered voices over drawling guitars. Stunningly powerful effect. All this recorded for $700? See, you really don't need massive riches to make a great-sounding album. Soft, hardly-audible whispers crunch into dangerous melodies, unexpected twists and turns keep you on your toes, sorrowful guitars whine their mourning songs from the background, and through it all, the pretty voices. It's a stunning indie artrock album.

Song of choice : Really digging the start/stop of "Kid Gloves."
