A.J. Rosales
Resistor.

Release Date : June 1, 2005.
Label: Novelty Records.
Rating: Andy doesn't dig rating stuff.

This fellow has a rich and clear musical talent. Sparsely populated with voice and guitar, it doesn't really need anything else. Rosales has a swift and sharp strumming-and-plucking technique on the acoustic guitar, and a lively and rollicking voice that fits together gorgeously. Lazy summertime afternoons on a lake, or in the grass. Just somewhere warm and comfortable and open. A very uplifting and pleasant listen. A big hunk of instrumental stuff in the middle might go on too long for my liking, but it IS called "Interlude" so we can let that pass. Although the following tune, title track "Resistor," retains this instrumental thing, extended the 'interlude' to about five minutes. "Disturbance Around Me" has a feeling of a Chris Cornell acoustic tune - whether solo, with Soundgarden, or with Audioslave. A shredded voice with thick heavy acoustic 'rock' guitar and a light bluesy overtone.

Song of choice : So far I like "Union" best.
