This album was recorded years ago as a way to showcase how The Early November's songs come into the world - acoustically. So basically, we're presented with a gentle emo record. While recorded way the hell back in 2002, this collection of acoustic tunes didnt make it onto a CD until 2005. Long time to wait - is this an in-the-meantime offering while we wait for a brand new album from these guys? Maybe, but it's still a cool little treat. Fans eat this sort of stuff up. And it sounds really cool. And sad, as all good emo should A plaintive, lonely, wailing voice over one guitar whispers and purrs it's way through the opener "Ever So Sweet." Anyhow, there's a lot of growling backgrounds and general caterwauling. I love this stuff. And the bedroom-acoustic feeling of it makes it that much more heartfelt. Like, they just HAD to sing it out, even though they dont have a huge concert hall with all the bells and whistles. Woot!
Song of choice :
So far "Ever So Sweet" seems to be on top just for the senseless wailing in the chorus and near the end. Frenzy! Pandemonium! Anguish! Oh, emo.
