Powerful words on this one. Definitely not a piece of rock or pop fluff, BronweN
appears to have lived through a lot. The impressive press kit included, among other
things, information on bullying and abuse. And now she's speaking out about it. It's
a grungey, loud album - somewhere between Alanis Morrisette circa 98 and Hole. The
mellower guitar bits almost have a ... Santana feel to them? Sort of. Just warm and
rich and Latin seeming. The soaring, heartfelt songs maybe only suffer a bit for
production values. It's rather great sounding actually, but there's moments of
inorganic sound. There's some super cool piano work - simple, but it sounds neat -
in "Eden." Wow, this chick is vicious. She shines much more on the louder, more
aggressive songs. The mellower ones don't have the grace it seems like they should
have. BronweN's voice is a little rough around the edges too, which suits the rock
songs more than the ballads.
Song of choice :
Two that are standouts - "Eden" and "Broken" and both are so for their viciousness.
