Jets Overhead
Bridges.

Release Date : September 5, 2005.
Label: Microgroove.
Rating: Yay! (Screw points. To each his own!)

This album starts off dangerous and racy, charging with a whining guitar noise, thrumming bass... and then suddenly, in pours the classic Jets Overhead/Special Guests! pop snap in the form of a keyboard melody bipping over top of everything else. This first tune reminds me strongly of something. Part of it is the Dandy Warhols - a band these guys have opened up for on a couple occasions, the lucky bastards - but there's something else in there too. Ooh - The Verve, A Storm In Heaven era. *Whew* that was driving me mad. Anyhow, I really like the album - lots of fun 60's pop hoo-hoo's and catchy catchy melodies, and just enough swirly euphoric stuff to make it slick-cool. A little bit mod, a little bit Velvet Underground... Nice blend from these Victoria chaps. Adam Kittredge's voice is mournful and flowing - this is very apparent in the slow and melancholy "All The People." At the time of writing this, these guys are playing a host of shows with Our Lady Peace. That seems a bit more of a sidestep in style, but hey, whatever works. High profile. Yip yip! It's mostly a really slow album - ambient and drughazed-seeming. Very super cool. Backing vocals on "Get It Right" almost sound more like synths.

Song of choice : Really love the slow build of "All The People"
