Well, it's loud. I am reminded a bit of Stabbing Westward. This of course is a bit
of an issue only because Stabbing Westward had its heyday in the mid-late 90s. So
this does harken back a bit - though from what I know of the genre, hard rock hasn't
gone through a massive evolution like pop/alt rock has. It sticks to a classic
formula of the-louder-the-better and keeping it simple, rather than reinventing
itself to stay hip for the kids. So you take your vintage NIN or Filter or whatever
and give it less-accomplished album graphics, and this is pretty much what you have
with Lodown. Jesus, is he singing I'm so bored fucking you? The song titles kind
of crack me up when read as a list. "Pucifer", "Thor", and "Mexican Fireplace" are
among the selections. There's also this banal story on the inside cover that talks
about some kind of ancient battle thing. That was my first inkling that I'd probably
not be terribly keen on this. Lame cover art doesn't necessarily mean the album will
be bad, but a story about prophets speaking to masses and lost souls on poles pretty
much solidifies how rough this will be. did you taste his body and blood? / was
that an expression of your fucking love? Ahhh. This guy adds a lot of extraneous
"ay"s to the end of his words. Maybe he's Italian. "Redeemer" is bonkers. These guys
are really against God and anyone who believes in him
Kneel before the lies! Kneel
upon your knees! Muthafuckah say kneel! Kneel before the lies you tell yourself!
Carry a torch, carry a cross! And you will be righteous by your ignorance!
This
would only be a little less funny if they didn't sound so much like Creed. Look in
the newborn baby's eyes/ stare inside, see reality divine.
Song of choice :
"Century" so far hahahahaha you gotta feel it just-a once! "Black Horse" is
relatively inoffensive as well, a bit more like a weird Doors song.
