Murder By Death is dangerous in so many ways. From their ominous sounding name to their dark bolero tunes, to gothic cellos, to 9-circles-of-hell album artwork, these guys breathe doom. "Boy Decide" opens the album strongly but I think "One More Notch" feels a bit weak - great song, needs a kick. " Dead Men and Sinners" pulls out a skippy country vibe. Suddenly it sounds happier (it's not actually). I like "The Organ Grinder." It has this hearty galumphing sound, like circus elephants parading. By the time we hit "The Big Sleep," we're well into Johnny Cash territory. Yeah, it's that dark. It's so very much like Johnny Cash suddenly that I'm somewhat alarmed. Its like an entirely different album. I really dig this half of the album.
Song of choice :
Really like "Shiola."
