The Resistance
Revenge On The Riverside.

Release Date : August 2, 2005.
Label: Union Local 2112.
Rating: Good. (Screw points. To each his own!)

Look at them all wearing black and roses and candles and stuff. There are a few ways this album could go, and it takes the path of least resistance. Forget the ambient, gut-wrenching and creative emo. Forget the loud grating metal-emo. Nope, these guys go right into pop-punk-emo. The addition of female lead vocals makes this one of those albums that will come off as more legit and a popular role-modelly thing with teenage girls who are soooo so against Britney Spears n' stuff. The voice is sometimes sung with an edge and a squeak, and sometimes just grrrrowled a la Hole. The Grrrl with the sensitive side. But beyond this, it's not an album I look at as a standout. Punk chords (aka : really simple), lots of shouting, short snappy songs. It's fun. Mindless and formulaic perhaps, but fun.

Song of choice : "Together With The Reaper" is pretty fun.
