Someone stole the Walkmen and replaced them with Tom Petty. I think this is just a goofy intro song. I think the trumpet is really coming back as the next big instrument. This is an odd and clumsy CD. Not to be confused with the UK The Walkmen, which is what I'd originally thought this was. "Emma, Get Me A Lemon" in particular sounds like a Bob Dylan-like off-timed vocals thing. It has the type of flourish of the Arcade Fire but less jingly. I adore the intro to "All Hands And The Cook" - this one IS jingly. Its amazing how hollow and bare these songs sound. Great in-a-long-hallway strums - a very strained song. "Another One Goes By" is a cute doowop ballad. I don't know what to make of this album. I think it's pretty cool that they seem to be branching out to a new territory from a lot of modern hiprock, but it's just still a bit clumsy.
Song of choice :
"All Hands And The Cook" is best for that jingle jangle guitar.
