Joel Plaskett and Pete Elkas coming to town!

INDIE NIGHT IN CANADA ON 99.3 THE FOX PRESENTS
JOEL PLASKETT EMERGENCY
with special guest pete elkas

FRIDAY, MAY 18TH
COMMODORE BALLROOM
VANCOUVER, BC
DOORS 8:00 pm SHOW 9:00 pm

For those of you discovering this artist later in the game... Joel Plaskett
has been playing in bands and making records longer than most of his peers
have been shaving. With over ten years' experience as a professional
musician, Joel has had ample opportunity to hone his chops and tour
extensively in North America, while still being young enough to enjoy the
simple thrill of it.

Plaskett strips down his material to its most sparse and naked, and adds
introspection and intimacy to his expressive yet simple songs. The
low-quality production gives his recordings a rough, rustic feel, which only
adds to its allure. Laced with humor, yearning, regret, apathy, sarcasm, wit,
and love, Plaskett's songs are courageous, confident and poignant.

"He has a wonderfully soulful voice and a great sense of melody that makes me
want to write and sing better and try harder." That's Ron Sexsmith's
endorsement of Peter Elkas in advance of the Toronto musician's sophomore
album, Wall of Fire, produced by Charlie Sexton. Peter describes the record
as "soulful and smooth, but with a rough edge" and says listeners can hear
his love affair with the 1970s sound on the tracks. Now Peter is handing it
over to music lovers. "I want people to feel romantic about it," he says. "It
is a romantic record in the sense of romance between a man and a woman, but
there's also a friendship vibe going on. There's a hopeful tone about it." As
Wall of Fire draws to a close, you can hear that hope.

Don't miss Joel Plaskett Emergency with special guest Pete Elkas live at the
famous Commodore Ballroom on Friday, May 18th.
